The American Civil Liberties Union says a woman seeking asylum from Mexico suffered a miscarriage while being detained in Bakersfield.

In a letter to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, lawyers with the group say a shackled Monserrat Ruiz fell on her stomach while on her way to a hospital from the Mesa Verde Detention Center.
