Burning wood chips forced a brief shutdown of the westbound lanes on the Westside Parkway between Allen Road and Stockdale Highway in west Bakersfield.

Kern County firefighters were called there before 3 p.m. Monday.

Police were also called to close the on-ramp at Stockdale. It’s not clear how the fire started.
