Kern County Fire says their investigators have already written a few $1,500 citations for illegal fireworks, and for lighting legal fireworks during unacceptable times.
Capt. Tyler Townsend said people can set off “safe-and-sane” fireworks Friday between 9 a.m. and midnight.
“On the Fourth of July, we allow 9 a.m. until 12:30 a.m.,” he said “So, you can light them up at midnight and a bit past.”
Townsend said firefighters, sheriff’s deputies and park rangers expect to be busy enforcing the laws through the busy holiday weekend.
