The Kern County Sheriff’s Office has identified a suspect who they believe held three people at gunpoint in Twin Oaks, killed a dentist in the Jawbone Canyon and injured two SWAT deputies in a shootout.
Sheriff’s Donny Youngblood says the man is Benjamin Peter Ashley. Ashley is 34 years old, has black hair and green eyes, is 5-foot-11 and weighs 180 pounds.
Youngblood says detectives made positive identification on Tuesday. Ashley has been previously arrested in Tehachapi, Bear Valley Springs, Los Angeles, Glendale, Merced and Yosemite.
Ashley is considered armed and dangerous. KCSO is urging people with more information in regard to Ashley’s location to call them at (661) 392-4360.
