A Tehachapi gynecologist who was warned against using an unapproved birth control device on his patients despite repeated warnings from the FDA has been sentenced to six months in prison and a year of house arrest.

55 year-old physician Paul Singh was also charged with fraudulently billing patients and insurers for the unapproved intra-uterine devices, known as IUDs, that he bought online. The Justice Department has set a restitution hearing for May.
