A female guard at the Tehachapi Correctional Institution is recovering from a vicious attack by an inmate this week.

A news release states 30-year-old Durrell Puckett said he had a medical emergency on Tuesday, then threw some kind of substance at the guards and stabbed the injured guard in the head with a homemade weapon. He’s been transferred to solitary confinement in Corcoran State Prison pending an investigation.
