An in-custody death has been cleared by the Kern County Sheriff’s Office. The internal review says 34-year-old Juan Fidel Castro died last December from a methamphetamine overdose and that minimal force was used by the CHP and jail deputies during his arrest for driving under the influence. The case will next be reviewed by the district attorney.
