A man and woman from Bakersfield plead guilty to bank fraud. The plea Tuesday in federal court to was for bank fraud and identity theft. 41-year-old Edgar Gomez and 36-year-old Jennifer Barthel stole personal documents like drivers licenses, credit cards and social security numbers from the mail in 2012 then opened bank accounts with the stolen ID’s. They face prison and fines when they’re sentenced in September. Another Bakersfield resident pleaded guilty last year in the case.
