A 200 acre brush fire east of Lake Isabella started as a apartment fire in the town of Onyx. The fire broke out around 5:00 PM Wednesday and quickly grew after burning two apartment units but did not damage other buildings. One occupant of a burned home suffered smoke inhalation. Onyx is east of Weldon on Highway 178 and has a population of less than 500.
