The Taft Correctional Institution is looking for a prisoner who has escaped its minimum-security satellite campus. Staff discovered John Barrena-Jerez was missing during an official count Monday afternoon. The facility does not have a perimeter security fence or armed posts.

Barrena-Jerez is prison for meth distribution. He is described as 5’7″ tall, weighs 267lbs, has black hair, and brown eyes. He has several tattoos including: a flag with stars on his top right arm, a flag with five stars and a barbed wire band on his top left arm, and an “S” on his stomach.

Anyone who sees him can contact their local law enforcement agency.
