The Cedar Fire is prompting more evacuation orders as it gets closer to populated areas. The Forest Service says precautionary evacuations are now ordered in the Upper Kernville area from River Kern to Camp Owens as the fire approaches lower elevations and fire commanders look at the forecast. The 23 thousand acre fire is only ten percent contained but most of that perimeter is around the communities that are most threatened. There are over 23 hundred firefighters on the lines and the cost has exceeded $24 million.
