The Cedar Fire has passed the test of a windy day and containment is now at 80 percent. The Forest Service says Wednesday’s winds arrived as expected but hot spots were minimal so they have re-opened campgrounds along the Upper Kern River ahead of the holiday weekend. The Kernville Ranger Station will again be open to the public starting Saturday and visitors may want to stop by to view a fire map to see which trails and other areas remain closed due to the 29 thousand acre wildfire.
