The 48th annual Wasco Festival of Roses is underway but there are fears it could be the last. The board that oversees the event is disbanding as support and attendance has been diminishing, but Vickie Hight of Wasco Parks and a 24-year volunteer says there are plenty of people now stepping up to take over the reigns. Hight expects there to be a festival next year although no one has officially taken over the event yet. Her expectation is that the festival would be different with new, younger people in charge but it would retain much of the traditions of the past half-century.
