Kern County Public Health is not offering nasal flu vaccines this year so people with an aversion to needles are just going to have to grit their teeth. County Health Officer Dr. Claudia Jonah says the Centers for Disease Control found FluMist isn’t working like it did when it first came out a few years ago. Dr. Jonah is also recommending people get flu shots as soon as possible because it can take up to a month before the body grows an immunity from the vaccine.
