SunEdison has opened a nearly 740-acre solar farm southeast of Bakersfield.

Tracy Leach is with the company and says the Regulus Project is already powering homes throughout southern California.

“We are delivering power via an agreement with Southern California Edison,” she said. “Yes, we’re generating that 60 megawatts and powering homes in California.”

Leach says the facility on East Panama Lane is one of its largest of its kind in North America, and will generate over $180 million in revenue for Kern County over the next 20 years.
