Kern County firefighters are investigating why two vacant homes in Oildale went up in flames Tuesday morning within hours of each other.

The first fire was on McCord and North Chester avenues just after 12:00 a.m. while the second started around 4:00 a few blocks away near Oildale Drive. Both are being called “suspicious”.
