The Highway Patrol says the southbound lanes of Highway 33 near Lockwood Valley Road in southwestern Kern County are shut down because of the Thomas Fire. The roadway was closed just before noon Thursday and it’s unknown when the lanes will be re-opened. Officers are expected to remain on scene as needed.
