More than 100 school children got free eye exams and glasses during a mobile clinic in Lamont.

OneSight spokeswoman Dawn Yager says the charity started holding the events seven years ago because it’s too expensive for some families in Kern County to see an eye doctor, even if they have Medi-Cal. Yager says schools in Bakersfield have started offering free eye exams so OneSight will start focusing on rural areas.

The bus heads to Porterville on Friday.
