Hundreds of students at several Kern County high schools walked out of classes as part of a nationwide protest on gun violence. Foothill High School student Summer Wren says she joined Wednesday’s nationwide protest after an AR-15 rifle was used to kill 17 people at a Florida high school last month. She also said the 17 minutes of silence Wednesday for each of the Florida high school students killed last month was tough to take.
