Stramler Park in Oildale was filled with people enjoying food and listening to music during the “Party in the Park” event, which raised money to build 12 tiny homes for homeless veterans. Heather Kimmel with the Kern County Housing Authority says treating vets with compassion will help them get back into society. “All of them will be fully ADA* compliant, so if we have veterans with disabilities they will be able to move in as well. There’s going to be a community room on site with laundry facilities.” It costs $300-thousand to build the homes at Covey and Belle avenues, the project sponsored by the California Veterans Assistance Foundation should be completed by the Spring.
