A badly-burned pit bull had to be put down after a two-alarm fire caused about $300,000 damage at a pair of industrial buildings at 30th Street and Jewett Avenue in Bakersfield.
Captain Mike Lencioni says about 30 city firefighters responded at around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
“The early report was an outside-type fire, and, when crews got here, the fire had already advanced into the structure and was into the second structure,” he said.
Lencioni says homeless people may have been living near one of the buildings, but nobody was found in either structure. It’s not clear how the fire started.
