The latest addition to the Kern High School District is coming soon as Del Oro High School prepares for its first school year in a couple weeks.
Approximately 900 students and over 50 staff will be walking through the new halls of Del Oro High School starting August 17th. Principal Gail Bentley, who came from Foothill High School, says they’re taking a unique approach to schooling including having teachers move classrooms between periods and incorporating cell phones as part of the learning process. She says the community where the school is located at Panama Lane and Cottonwood Road has been neglected so the school wants to become part of the growth of that area. The Del Oro mascot will be the Suns, which Bentley says stands for “Strength, Unity, Nurturing, and Service”.
