Governor Newsom has signed his Budget Shortfall Bill to slash Billions from the looming state deficit, much to the chagrin of Sacramento Republicans. Bakersfield Assemblyman Vince Fong, who is Vice Chair of the Assembly Budget Committee, says negotiations took place behind closed doors and the plan won’t work.

AB 106 slashes $17.3 billion from the budget deficit, which the non-partisan Legislative Analyst’s Office says could be as high as $73 billion.
