A Bakersfield man has been found guilty of assault and spousal abuse for pistol-whipping his girlfriend. Stephen Swain, 40, was convicted Friday and faces up to 24 years and 4 months in prison after he broke his girlfriend’s jaw at their home in north Bakersfield in April 2023. He was also convicted of four counts of child cruelty since the assault happened in front of his four children.
