alleged dui driver lands in jail

A man who allegedly drove drunk in a crash that killed a young Bakersfield girl has been booked into jail. Diego Godinez, 35, was booked Tuesday evening after medical clearance on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, DUI causing injury, reckless driving and other offenses after a wreck November 22, 2024 that took the life of Anabel Ramirez, 12, at Hosking and South Union Avenues. An 11-year-old girl who was also a passenger with Ramirez suffered major injuries. Godinez is being held without bail for violating parole and has a pending case in which he’s accused of hitting and shoving his mother at her birthday party.
