The Highway Patrol will begin its two-day Christmas Maximum Enforcement Period Tuesday. Beginning at 6:02 p.m. Tuesday, CHP officers will be on the lookout for dangerous driving behaviors, speeding, impaired drivers, distracted drivers and people not wearing their seat belts. The operation will end at 11:59 p.m. on Christmas Day. 20 people died in crashes and more than 900 people were arrested for driving under the influence statewide during the CHP’s 78-hour enforcement period last Christmas.
