Police believe alcohol may have contributed to a fatal car crash in southwest Bakersfield. It happened shortly after 1:00 a.m. on New Year’s Day when a Hyundai sedan heading westbound on Ming Avenue veered off the roadway and hit a traffic signal pole at Westholme Boulevard. Two men and two women were inside the car. A man was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other occupants are listed in critical condition at the hospital.
