A Bakersfield man faces more than twenty years in prison after pleading no contest to a killing in Caliente. Michael Pinon, 42, pleaded no contest on Tuesday to charges of voluntary manslaughter and two counts of attempted murder in exchange for the dismissal of other counts including first-degree murder after being charged with the murder of Marco Munoz, 38, whose body was found in December 2018 in the area of Bena Road, west of Caliente Bodfish Road. Pinon was already in custody for another shooting when he was charged with Munoz’s murder. He’s being held in Lerdo Jail on $1.7 million bail and faces up to twenty five years in prison when he’s sentenced in February.
