A Kern County jury has acquitted a man who faced twenty four years in prison after a shooting that took place in a corral in southeast Bakersfield. Jose Gutierrez was found not guilty of shooting a man in the foot after the jury believed his testimony about what happened on June 17, 2023. Gutierrez said the victim, who had attacked him before, went after him that night, and another person intervened and fired a shot at the ground to stop the attack.
